MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS MRS. K
START DATE: 12/17/99 12-30-99: "Such a change in me. Doing so well, had reached plateau and them going down hill." Walking better, moving better get up, just a couple of days last 2 days. "Elated." Walked with cane and walker or wheel chair, was with cane and wall, now "want to do more, I've got to do more", quit some of the old habits-like wall walking down steps still a problem Balance- better for two days, not wall walking Spasticity - much better, feel the difference, moving better, do more with legs Really feel this medicine is doing the job, no cane but hands on counters, now going to step out off ball of foot TRAINER - "so excited yesterday, you are just working doing mutiples beyond what you were doing", he can see improvement now, he was suprosed and said she was doing a great job. Yesterday out did herself, stronger and better on machines, pulleys. I think this is the medication that just may pull me out of this. Mood is even better now, more interest and energy. Did not expect things to be working this quickly, did not know what to expect. " 1-4-00: Husband called. He agrees she is doing better. Says he can see she is walking better. Says she did "a hell of a work out today" with her trainer. 1-17-00: Visiting relative out of state last week, unable to exercise and "got a bit lazy," used wheelchair instead of walker because she did not want to make everyone else wait for her. She feels this has caused a set back, but upon discussion, not an exacerbation, just a loss of progress. Also, she had to cut back to 2 tablets twice daily for 4 days. Before leaving for the trip her trainer was very positive and said she was much improved over the week before, more strength in lifting and getting up and sitting down and overall movement was better. Leg exercises strength improving, had added weight to her workout, he told she could not have done it last week. 2-7-00: "Energy is phenomenal Wakes up feeling good and wants to get up." "My attitude is better." Trainer increased her weight and her reps, again, he thinks she is doing better Not much progress on her balance. Progress with her legs is slow - except for the strength. She mentioned several times that she might be too critical of herself and her progress. Able to walk with balance if takes it very slow, but if hurries at all her balance is bad. 2-21-00: Walking using cane all the time (instead of walker), this is much better. "Very pleased." Balance needs to improve, about 4 weeks ago started pitching forward - need to straighten up and keep walking. She has been using an abd-roller, recommended talking with trainer about back exercises "My husband looks at where I am, and I am improving". Has not been falling as much. Discussed having trainer design several different workout to add some variety and help her keep from getrting bored.
