MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

AND

SILYMARIN

Silymarin is a chemical extracted from the Milk Thistle plant. It may be beneficial to Multiple Sclerosis patients for several reasons.

1. Very strong antioxidant abilities
2. Detoxification of Mercury, Lead and other heavy metals.

As an antioxidant, Silymarin is reported to be stronger than Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Silymarin also prevents depletion of Glutathione from the liver. Glutathione is one of the main routes the body uses to remove toxic heavy metals from the body. The enzyme Glutathione peroxidase is one of the main antioxidants protecting myelin and nerve cells.

DOSAGE

Published recommendations range from 70 mg to 210 mg per day. If adequate stores of Glutathione can be ensured by other supplements, Silymarin may not be necessary.
