MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
and
COENZYME Q-10
Coenzyme Q-10 (Co Q10) is required for many of the reactions inside the cell. The body is capable of producing CO Q-10, but often it does not produce enough. This is even more likely if there is illness that increases the overall requirements for CO Q-10.
Patients with Multiple Sclerosis may benefit from taking CO Q-10 for several reasons:
1. Improves
the effectiveness of Beta Carotene and Vitamin E.
2. Acts as an antioxidant
in its own right.
3. Protects Myelin
and other lipid membranes from free-radical damage.
4. May improve immune
system function, especially if taken with B-6
CAUTION
Problems can result if you take CO Q-10 and then try to stop. You should not stop taking it all at once. Especially if you have heart disease you may need to gradually decrease your dose over the course of several months. If you have any illness or take prescription medicines, consult your physician before starting or stopping CO Q-10.
