MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

SPECIFIC ABNORMALITIES

THAT CAUSE SYMPTOMS

The Goals of this Web Site are to:

#1:

Identify the specific abnormalities that cause the symptoms of MS.

#2:

Find general ways to improve the overall health and function of the body so that it is able to repair itself.

#3:

Find specific ways to counter act these specific abnormalities.

The cause of MS is unknown, so any discussion of its treatment must always be, in part, theoretical. Even though we do not know what causes the disease to start, we do know that once it does start, it causes many changes in body function and chemistry. We also know that these individual abnormalities cause specific problems.

This section looks at #1 in the Goals for this Web Site.

#1: Abnormalities that cause Symptoms in MS Patients

1.

Injury to the blood-brain barrier.

2.

Abnormal blood clotting.

3.

Abnormal utilization of some vitamins.

4.

Low antioxidant levels protecting myelin and nerves.

5.

Low levels of Essential Fatty Acids in the blood.

6.

Abnormal immune molecules in the blood (Immune Complexes).

7.

Abnormal inflammation.

These are the underlying chemical abnormalities that cause the symptoms of MS. We need to find a way to correct as many of these as possible.

Details on these Abnormalities

Treatments discussed in the following sections are designed to address one or more of the items listed on this page.
