MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

THE SWANK DIET

The SWANK DIET has been successful in treating many cases of MS.

1

Low dietary saturated fats, 10 grams per day or less

2

Strict Avoidance of fried and processed food and trans-fatty acids

3

40 - 50 grams per day of polyunsaturated fats (Omega-3 / Omega-6)

4

Eating fish at least 3 times per week

5

At least one teaspoon of Cod Liver Oil each day

Originally it was felt that the benefits of the Swank diet came from replenishing Essential Fatty Acid deficiencies. However, it is now believed that this diet also decreases the auto-immune response and the platelet abnormalities characteristic of the disease.

Saturated fat comes primarily from meat and meat products. If you try to limit your saturated fat intake you may have trouble getting enough protein. This is one of the reasons the NitroPlex supplementation is recommended. However, even people who do not follow this recommendation may benefit from the form of protein contained in NitroPlex.
